About Rollin S Rhodes PhD

After graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in biology, I served three years on active duty as an officer in the Navy. I returned to Ole Miss to obtain Masters and Doctoral degrees (PhD) in clinical psychology. I interned in psychology at Rutgers Medical School. My wife was also very busy, obtaining her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.

My first “real” job was at a mental health center, where I served as Clinical Director. From there, I developed a group private practice for over 20 years. When a position came open at Fort Knox, I felt called upon to serve there. As Team Leader, I headed the Embedded Behavioral Health team, seeing soldiers deploying to and from combat positions. I performed a variety of evaluations and emergency services.

I am a proud father and grandfather. I am a member of the Presbyterian Church.

I now am truly excited about seeing patients for psychotherapy through Telehealth.

Psychotherapist vs Psychologist

One common question that people ask is what is the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychologist. Both help people with mental health issues, but there are some key differences between the two professions. Psychologists have more formal training and usually have a PhD or PsyD degree. They conduct research and may teach at a university. Psychologists tend to focus more on the science of mental health and may use tests and other scientific methods to assess patients.

Psychotherapists, on the other hand, have less formal training and may only have a master’s degree. They focus more on providing counseling and support to patients. Psychotherapists may also use different techniques, such as art or music therapy, to help patients heal. Both psychotherapists and psychologists can be helpful in treating mental health issues, but it is important to choose the right professional for your needs.

While both psychologists and psychotherapists are mental health professionals who can provide counseling and therapy, there are some important differences between the two professions. Psychologists are licensed practitioners who have earned a doctorate in psychology. This means that they have completed extensive coursework in abnormal psychology, human development, and other relevant topics.

In addition, psychologists must complete a one-year internship before they can be licensed. As a result, psychologists are often better equipped to deal with more complex mental health issues. Psychotherapists, on the other hand, are not required to hold a doctorate. While they may have completed some coursework in psychology, they are not licensed practitioners.

Nonetheless, if you are seeking counseling or therapy, it is important to choose a licensed psychologist who has the training and experience to address your specific needs. Dr. Rollin S Rhodes is a licensed clinical psychologist in Elizabethtown, KY who can provide evidence-based treatment for a variety of mental health concerns. In doing so, patients can gain insight into their own thoughts and behaviors, and learn how to make positive changes in their lives. Therapy can be an enormously helpful tool for those struggling with mental health issues, and it is also one of the most effective ways to prevent problems from developing in the first place. For anyone feeling overwhelmed or struggling to cope, seeking out the help of a therapist may be the best decision they ever make.

As anyone who has ever seen a therapist knows, the relationship between therapist and patient is a vital one.
